Courfeyrac, My dear friend, how soon we were parted at the parade! I hope that the fights did not harm any of your friends. Is Mylene alright? Did you get somewhere safe? What of Enjolras? In my prayers, Cosette.

Mademoiselle - I am glad it seems you and your esteemed father arrived home safely. My friends and I are all well, but we would be better if we did not have to face such violent oppression any more. Your prayers will be needed.

Courfeyrac, We arrived home safe, but he worries for me. I believe he is afraid of the idea of me falling in love. What a silly notion, to be afraid of love. Perhaps he has not known it enough in his lifetime to trust it as I do. I should remedy that. How does Marius fair? Does he speak of me? I hope that the guards do not blame your amis for the uprising. Will there be any charges against the young woman you were with? I hope she is alright, those men seemed intent on harming her. - Cosette

M'selle Cosette - It is a blessing to have a father who cares for you. Most are not so fortunate. I trust that in time, he will come to love Marius as you do.
Marius is well. He speaks little, but I know from his face that he thinks only of you.
No charges have been laid against any of us officially yet, but that means little to the men with the guns, or the members of the Patron-Minette. Keep your wits about you, ma'm'selle. It is dangerous to be associated with the likes of us.

Monsieur -
God has graced me with many gifts throughout my life: the best being my loving father. Do you have family Courfeyrac? Do they approve of your ideals? Papa is wary - but I do not believe skeptical by any means - of the revolutionaries. It is my belief that he simply does not wish to see you and your friends harmed.
Thank you. Your encouragement on the sake of Marius is much appreciated. At times I feel selfish, for desiring him as I do. Should I not want him to succeed as a lawyer? Or devote his time not to me, but to you and your friends? I often wonder, though Marius will not hear of it.
Does Enjolras disapprove of me?
Heavens, it makes me smile to know that you have not been threatened with jail or worse! I do not believe that it can be dangerous to be associated with you and the ABC. Your hearts are pure and in pure hearts there is nothing to fear.
Tu amie, Cosette

Cosette -
I believe you about your father. My own is less enthused about my cause than I am, to say it gently. You know how some old men are.
Mademoiselle, forgive my bluntness, but why are you asking me such things? You think God gave you many gifts, oui? Do you not think one of those gifts passion? Do you think that you and Marius were meant to wither away and waste such a gift? No - even Monsieur l'Abbe has fallen in love, and no one would deny him it - even Enjolras, I suspect.
Enjolras disapproves of any distraction from revolution, but just because he denies himself does not mean he can realistically expect others to do so as well.
Believe what you will, mademoiselle - only do not do anything foolish on our account.
Courfeyrac.

Courf, Unfortunately in my time in Paris, yes, I have met elderly men who are not as kind or open-minded as my father. I am sorry that you do not share my blessing in having my Papa as your own, but know that you do have his worry and prayers.
Why yes Monsieur, I have been blessed with passion! If I was created for anything on this Earth it would most solely be to love. For what greater purpose is there? God created his people so that he could give and receive love. Even Enjolras loves, but his passion lies in France instead of a pretty young maiden. You have given me new eyes; God did not grant me this gift, nor Marius, for it to be wasted.
I am glad to hear of it. I should be troubled, if I were to know that someone as kind and well mannered as Enjolras should hold spiteful emotions towards me. I am glad that I am not a source of irritation for him.
I have another question. If you don't mind, you see I don't get out terribly often enough to find these answers for myself. Being young men, you and your friends must have fallen in love. With the exception of Enjolras, why do the Les Amis look down so upon Marius? Is it because he chooses love with someone - not France - over the revolution? Would none of you do the same if you were to - or have already - found it?

Ah mademoiselle, if your father were mine as well, then we would be brother and sister, and you would find that unfortunate. In all seriousness - I am grateful for his prayers.
It is the highest pleasure to be of service to you. I am always glad to help an ami.
With all due respect, mademoiselle, none of us hold any bad feelings towards you or towards Marius simply because we are too busy to think much on the matter. No one looks down upon Marius because he has a divided heart, only because he has a distracted mind. None of us can count upon him for anything because he is off daydreaming about you.

Ha, how tres true Courfeyrac. If you were truly my brother, I am sure that I would be quite annoyed by your presence! No doubt we would bicker all the time and pinch each other when Papa was not looking. How lucky we are not to be related so that we can enjoy each other's company instead!
I am glad to know that none of you hold Marius in ill regard or myself either. I daydream about him too...if it helps I will talk to him and tell him to be more alert in meetings and such! If I could I would leave him all together so that he would focus on studies and living his life, but I would die if I did.
On a completely unrelated note - the weather is gorgeous! Would you like to go for a walk in the Luxemborg gardens after class later? Marius has class all day today and I am quite the caged butterfly in this dusty home.

Ha ha. I see you and Marius are alike in misunderstanding me...
Cosette, Cosette, do not be silly. You could not leave Marius, nor could you speak with him; I am quite convinced you two do little more than gaze upon each other and fawn.
If your father permits you and Enjolras permits me, I would like nothing more! -- I tease, mademoiselle. I will be there.
Courf.

Courf! You will find none of your mischievous ways between Marius and I. We are perfectly cordial towards each other. Besides, a mademoiselle does not kiss and tell.
Excellent. I shall be by the fountain. See that you leave your cheeky remarks and guttural thoughts at home!

Courfeyrac, I am saddened to hear little from you these days. How fair you? And Mylene? Marius speaks of Revolution, but says little to Enjolras' actual plans. I pray that you are safe and happy. - Cosette

Mam'selle - You will forgive my neglect. Things have been quite busy. In case you had not heard, General Lamarque is dead, and his funeral is fast approaching. I am not sure whether to advise you to be in attendance. Things may get... interesting. Stay safe. Courf.

Monsieur, I had heard rumours, but since the Gazette has not yet been published I did not want to believe them! How do the amis fair? Are you upset at the loss? Oh what a terrible question, of coarse you are! He was such an inspiration. I have not yet heard from Marius. I know that you will do your best to keep him safe. I will be sad to miss the funeral, but if you advise to keep away then I shall follow through. KEEP SAFE. I don't want anything happening to you mon amie! - Cosette

I visited the man's house myself and spoke with the doctor when he was on his deathbed, but it was Gavroche who brought us news that night. It was the night of the demonstration, no less. We are saddened but prepared. As for Marius... do not worry too much for him.

(Naturally, he does not tell her that he has not seen much of Marius either, as he does not want to worry her.)
