Sir Andrew is a wealthy Englishman who has known Percy most of his life. The two are best friends, Andrew is used to Percy's over blown ego and is known for keeping it in check. He is the second of command to the league of the pimpernel and aids Percy in his secret missions to France as they try to rescue aristocrats from the grips of the guillotine.

Andrew and Percy will rescue Suzanne and her family from the guillotine and he will eventually marry her, however he keeps his double life a secret from her.

Andrew is one of the few men who knows that Percy is the Scarlet Pimpernel and Percy trusts him above everyone else.
