Jean Valjean has gone by many names, once convicted for stealing some bread Valjean has been trying to escape his past since his release. After promising Fantine he would look after her little girl, he has raised Cosette as if she were his own child. He hopes to never run into his old enemy Javert again, who has sworn to find and convict Valjean after breaking his parole.

Fantine’s daughter Cosette, has been brought up by Jean Valjean. After spending much of her young life in a convent Cosette now lives with Valjean in Paris.

Marius is a student involved in the ABC, who has drifted from his family due to his political views. He is indebted to the theif Thénardier who saved his father’s life and upon seeing Cosette falls deeply in love with her.
MONSIEUR && MADAME THENARDIER
AS FOR THE REST, ALL OF 'EM CROOKS
They have five children together Éponine , Azelma, Gavroche and two young sons who are often left to fend for themselves. Thénardier works with the criminal group Patron-Minette and the pair are competent con artists.
THE REVOLUTIONARIES
The ABC Revolutionaries are a student based group who are preparing to stand up against the monarchy as a result of the death of General Lamarque. The only French leader who sympathised with the working class. The living conditions of the working class people are poor, lack of food and disease are killing hundreds of people, including the Europe-wide outbreak of cholera.
P.B: Aaron Tveit
The leader of Les Amis de l'ABC, he uses his charisma to recruit people to the cause. He aims to create a republic and is extremely passionate about it.
COMBEFERRE
AT NOTRE DAME THE SECTIONS ARE PREPARED!
A philosophical student who is second to Enjolras in the group. Feel free to develop this character as you wish.
COURFEYRAC
THERE'S A RIVER ON THE RUN
Courfeyrac is a close friend of Marius', a charmer and a bit of a player, though he treats the women he flirts with with courtesy. While Enjolras is the head of the ABC Friends and Combeferre often called their 'brain', Courfeyrac is surely their heart. While originally of noble blood, he feels strongly for equality and the rights of the less fortunate, inspired by his studies of Rosseau and other great philosophers. He knows how to draw people in with passion and conviction and has often been known to keep his friends together over disputes. For him, the revolution always comes first, despite his dalliances and he looks with anxiety at his best friend, whose mind seems to be distracted from their important cause.
GRANTAIRE
YOU TALK OF BATTLES TO BE WON
Grantaire holds little interest in the revolution and more interest in the bottle. He is apart of the ABC purely because of his friendship with Enjolras. He doesn't believe in anything and often drinks himself into a stupor.
