[Soo, we talked about this once, didn't we? Our AU outing thread! cookies for the one who can tell me the title reference ]
“One las’ time, ye two: Where. Are. We. Goin’?!” Mylène growled, twitching a little as if the sheer movemen of her head could somehow shift the blindfold from her eyes so she could actually see something. But the anger in her voice was only partially genuine, she knew this ought to be a surprise, and while she was dying of curiosity and felt slightly uncomfortable by allowing someone to lead her while she could not deem the way herself, having to rely and trust someone else completely with her senses, she also did not want to be a spoilsport. She also would have liked to see Eponine’s face right now, sure that she must be suffering from similar thoughts and sentiments. But at least they were in this together, and knowing the ingeniousness of their two companions, this probably would end up to be a GOOD surprise, not a bad one!
It was a warm summer day and it had not rained for some time. That could be a good thing, but in a city that still bristled with filth despite the new regime’s best efforts to clean Paris and better the conditions of the poorest, it also had a serious downside: Paris was sticky and stinking, so everyone who could afford it tried to escape the city proper and followed the era’s fashion to go on an outing. Apparently, two gamines and their companions had found themselves suddenly following that sport, initially quite against their will. They had been coaxed into a carriage that brought them out of the gates fairly quickly, and as soon as they had passed them, the lads had found the gall to produce blindfolds, claiming that their destination ought not to be a secret. It was even hard to measure time when you could not see, Mylène had found, so after some period of time had passed, the carriage had halted and they had been led out onto soft ground, probably grass.
Now they had been walking a timeless while again, sometimes warned of obstacles which made her think that they might be on the brink of some forest, but she could not be sure. After Mother Paris had pulled her into her relentless embrace at the age of only eight, Mylène had hardly ever left the city behind, so the surroundings were unfamiliar to her, especially as she did not even know which direction they had moved after passing the gates. But then, she probably would find out soon, leave the two rascals there piece of fun, she would get them back soon enough!
