By Royal decree, Tuesday, the 31st of May has been declared a day of celebration. Work has been placed on a brief pause, and the country shall celebrate. A street festival shall be held in Paris for all to attend. A masquerade ball shall follow that evening to which there shall be private invitations. Below you may find a list of events and activities that shall take place at the King’s behest. The colors of the day are red and white to please the eye of his highness. Take a chance and join in the festivities. The young and old alike are sure to find something new lurking in the crowds. Who knows, something surprising might just happen to you. |
Come take a walk ‘round the May Pole with a ribbon in your hand. Sing a song or do a dance; just remember everyone’s eyes are on you. This is the central location of the celebration.
Election of the May Queen
Come vote for your Queen of Love and Beauty. The King has decreed all eligible ladies of standing shall be up for election to this coveted role. If chosen, you shall be showered with flowers and compliments until the nights end. The voting takes place at a booth just off to the side of the May Pole as many of these women take to prancing around the symbol of the holiday. Oh, and this year, the May Queen gets an invitation to the Masquerade Ball!(Please post at least one small post here prior to voting.)
Flower Stand
Why not buy a lily of the valley or dog rose flower for your beloved? It would be a shame to let your sweet lady spend the day empty handed surrounded by mobs of beautiful women carrying arms full of flowers. What better to boast your courage than an occasion meant to bolster the spirits and bring out all the beauty there is in the world?
The Mystic
Ever felt an urge to know what may be headed your way? Have you ever yearned to know who’s hand you may hold until the day you die? A small tent has been constructed just off the main rode. Step through the curtains and have your fortune told. Beware, you may not like all you hear…but who can resist. (Staff NPC will reply to posts in this board.)
The Streets
Everywhere else you will find performers, musicians, jugglers, and more. Of course, pickpockets will be working overtime this day….but perhaps you can spare a coin to watch your fair maiden glow at the sight of some amazing feat. If you are not one for the festivities, you won’t get anywhere on this day without passing through a crowd. Who knows who you might meet or who you might see! (Staff NPC may appear!)

The evening will bring further revels both for those of standing and those not so fortunate. Be sure to join in the evening’s festivities as it is sure to be a night that no one will soon forget. These areas will be open after the event is underway.
The king has invited his loyal supporters to a royal masquerade. While the common people stand outside, the king and his favored guests will feast and dance, feigning ignorance of the problems that lay just beyond their door. But especially at a masquerade, not everything is as it seems... (Invitation only. No one will be permitted inside without staff permission. The Master of Ceremonies will be played by a Staff NPC to describe the ball and introduce characters to each other formally, as is proper.)
The Torchlight Street Parade
After the festivities of the day, while the vendors are cleaning up their wares, everyone is invited to join in a celebration of the king by taking to the streets. However, on the streets, the king is less favored. As the people walk through the streets in the darkness, making their way to the parade's conclusion at Notre Dame, they will light torches to see their way, often singing songs. What could possibly go wrong? (Staff NPC may appear.)[/ul]
