He worried heavily if she strayed too far, although her curiosity called out to her. She was wild and brave at heart and wanted to explore every inch of the events. Her energy was quite up, having danced at the May pole and wandered around the vendors for the last few hours. A tent quite unlike the others caught her eye. It was eccentric, but not in an alarming way. Pretty, with different colors and tassels than the other tents. It looked almost magical. Cosette ventured close, one gloved hand reaching out to touch the pretty colored fabric of the tent. She withdrew her hand quickly before her fingertips grazed the heavy woven material. Her cerulean eyes spotted the hand carved sign above the door with pretty symbols around the world MYSTIC READINGS. Her father had noticed she was no longer at his side. She was still inspecting the tent when his patience seemed to waver. "Come Cosette, what captures you?" Her reverie was snapped back to the present by her father's voice. "This tent," she answered dreamily before her eyes focused properly on her father, "may I have a reading?" As a godly man would, he smiled in amusement. Of coarse he wouldn't believe in tarot cards of crystal balls. If there any was sort of truth to any of the visions, the church going folk would claim it were demons or spirits. Cosette resisted putting her hands on her hips. It wouldn't be ladylike. "Haven't you ever wondered what the future held Papa?" "To wonder is to stray from entrusting your destiny to the Lord above child." He was a kind man to indulge in her conversation he'd rather drop. "Just one reading," the young blonde pleaded, clasping her hands together, but holding her index finger up, "just for May Day's sake? For the fun?" She pouted her bottom lip and batted her eyes a way that would surely win him over. Her father's sigh wasn't one of too much seriousness, for a smile was still fixed on his face as he gave her the few coins she would need to pay the mystic. "I'll just be a moment Papa," Cosette promised as she made her way towards the mystic's tent. "Nothing shall happen to me." She entered another world as the tent flap closed behind her. In contrast to the bright summer light outside, it was dim and smokey within. She squinted for a moment as her eyes adjusted, but thankfully the smoke wasn't too much on her lungs. It smelled faintly sweet, with a mixture of herbs. Should she fall asleep here she would have the most wondrous dreams. She thought of India and how exotic it was in the books she read. This tent surely captured it's likeness with smokey scents and burning candles. A shadowy figure made Cosette jump, her thoughts having been too fixated on the tents contents to remember that there would be someone within. The woman that emerged from whatever secret place had an enchanting voice. She was lovely as well, the likes of which Cosette had never seen. Obsidian hair and piercing gray eyes, like a cloudy sky before rainfall. She was beautiful. Cosette pondered the question for a moment. Tarot cards were interesting, but she supposed would provide quite a vague answer about her life, or not the answer she wanted at all. Tea leaves seemed too muddy for her liking. "Crystal ball please," she decided, taking a seat across the table where the ball in question sat. She placed the coins Papa had given her on the table. The woman seemed to be studying her. Perhaps she knew more about Cosette than Cosette knew herself. "My question, hmmm...", she mused about her exact question. It was of coarse about the young man she had seen in the square mid-winter. Would he find her? Had he already and was too afraid to approach her? Did he love her as she loved him? Of coarse there were mention questions she wanted to ask, but alas she was only allowed one. Cosette lifted her gaze back to the enchanting woman across from her. "There is a boy I met a few months ago. I wondered...do we come to know each other? More of on speaking terms, not so much in the glances we so often share." Her curiousity gave way to bashfulness and she blushed at such a bold question. I did get permission from Emmy to god-mod her. I actually had a dream about this post! I was Cosette (obvs) and like totally entranced by the orb and when I spoke I was all dreamy and like totally hypnotized so you just started eating peanuts and drinking booze because you were swindling me out of money... |
