Adelaide had been surprised yet delighted at her grandmother’s idea for an event or Ball as the older woman called it. Her grandfather was using it as a way to strength his business relationships and Adelaide well it was an excuse for some money to be spent on a new dress. Adelaide’s mother had loved social events and Adelaide was no different. Sitting at the mirror Adelaide sent the maid away once she was sorted and sat fixing her mother’s necklace round her neck with a small smile.
She did love her grandparents yet there company sometimes left something to be desired. The dark blue the girl wore contrasted with her skin and hair. Adelaide had always been one to stand out even as a child. The young woman made her way down the staircase holding her skirts out of the way. She smiled at the old woman at the bottom; she really did love her grandmother.
She eventually got fed up of being introduced to her grandfather business partners and grandmothers friends, she sighed it suddenly all seemed very boring. She missed her old friends from England and the game of trying to outdo each other in how many dance invites they got. It didn’t seem fun without someone to beat at her own game and not to the mention the men she had met who were her age were dreadfully boring. Adelaide walked through the house heading towards the double doors which lead out to the gardens. Glancing around and figuring that no one would miss her. Adelaide opened the doors and headed outside resting her hands on the small decorative wall that surrounded parts of the house. Adelaide glanced out at the gardens her eyes resting on the sky.
Adelaide walked the length of the wall and back her skirts rustling slightly as she did so. The people her age that she had met so far seemed terribly boring and she usually gave up on the conversation and left. Adelaide glanced at the doors and frowned “You should not be out here.” Her voice was sharp as she looked at the figure in the dim light.

This was a very dangerous thing to do, there was a chance that he would be noticed, in fact it was more than just a chance Nate put it above at least 50% at least. It also depended on a few other variables about who was there, but Nathaniel was pretty confident that only one person knew his face and she was not going to rat him out. He had also made sure he was going to use a fake name, it would be utterly stupid and suicide of him to actually use his real name, plus Henri would never forgive him if he got caught. Nate had of course taken precautions, he was that type of man plan ahead of times and if things go wrong make it up on the fly. It was a social event he would be going to so it would not be wrong for someone to turn up in a mask, not that Nathaniel was going to be wearing a full mask more a half mask. It would not be perfect, because even if Nate said so he knew really that no plan was ever perfect, all plans had a hole in it that could be exploited.
There was a ball of sorts at the Somers estate, Nate however, was not really going for the ball just because of it being a Ball, he liked them yes, because they could be fun other than that all they did was to show that you had a social standing, and to show off your estate and in the Somers man’s case to further his business. Nate had been to a few before being one of the Upper class men just not many. There were a few reasons he wanted to go, it would be easy to gain information from the people there chatting away freely, well those who knew stuff at least there was bound to be someone. He Knew there would maybe be some sympathizers with the Sacred Heart's cause, there was someone in particular who he knew somewhat did. Lady Adelaide Somers the granddaughter of the man putting this on.
The Manor House of course was magnificent even Nate who usually when determined to do something had to stop and take it in. There was History to this place no doubt about it no matter how new and how perfect it was you could still see it. Each of the cracks each told their own story some dated back for years. If Nate was to be able to study the architecture if he had the time, he would have done, he would have loved to live in a place which looked to have such rich history.
It turned out that his half mask dark and striped as it was not enough to hide his identity from one person, the first person he saw it happened to be, but this caused him to smile gently. Mainly because of whom it was Lady Adelaide Somers. "As Perceptive as you are beautiful my Lady," he gave a slight bow his tone of voice calm and inviting. "I thought you would have been happy to see me I can quite look after myself, and after all I came all that way." He left what he could have said hanging in the air, as he stepped further in he gave a quick glance to see who else had attended. The man could not be sure yet if there was someone of a danger to him who could reveal him. He would keep his eye out.

Adelaide loved the gardens at night they were peaceful and they seemed magical to her really and she felt so much more relaxed out here that in the cold house. It wasn’t literally cold but it felt it gave of a cold and empty vibe and it was something that made Adelaide slightly uncomfortable. Her skirts rustled as she walked her hand on the small wall before her eyes rested back on the figure. Adelaide watched the figure she was looking at raising an eyebrow before a smile fell upon her full lips. The young woman laughed walking towards him slowly her eyes resting on his figure “That’s exactly what I have been told before” Adelaide rested against the small wall looking over at Nathaniel. “You know it’s considered Rude to hide away from the event.”
Adelaide smirked brushing her hair behind her ear. “Did I ever suggest that I was not happy to see you?” Adelaide cocked an eyebrow at him. “Besides I hope you didn’t come all that way just for me, I’m afraid I may disappoint.” She grinned at him looking too the doors. Shaking her head slightly to keep her hair from her face.
The young woman used to love spending time with her family and those around them and she loved Events but they seemed to be filled with old people around here. Adelaide missed her group of friends her age, the ones who she could relate to really. She sighed softly, her brown eyes closing for a few moments. There was something that no longer held its appeal so much about Paris. Yet England held nothing for her anymore apart from her father’s misery and her mother’s memory, yet Paris held that too really.
Adelaide walked closer to the gentleman looking him over, she smiled “Do I not get too see your whole face?” Adelaide spoke softly a smile playing on her lips “After all you can see the whole of my face.” The young woman moved back too lean against the small wall her hands resting on the stone surface. Least she wasn’t dealing with her grandfather’s boring old business partners.

Nathaniel wondered how sympathetic Adelaide was to the Sacred Heart, he already knew there was some small bit there, however he was not sure entirely. She was obviously sympathetic enough not call out to someone and have him arrested that was for sure. He did expect her also not having him arrested had something to do with his looks and charm as well. Though he had already known and expected that she would not of he felt that it may be harder to bend her ear than one might think. Though bend her ear he shall try to do with all the skills he had, and flirting while not his best skill was a skill he could utilize certainly. There were others here that he could try and bend the ear as well, but he would have to test their sympathies first, it would not do to reveal yourself entirely. Which was one such reason he had not told Adelaide about himself being the second in command of the Sacred Heart. Yes tonight though he could relax a little even if these constant trips were getting tiring. Something that he and neglected to tell Henri, mainly as he did not want his friend over worrying about him among the duties he already had. He knew that what he was doing held danger as well but he ignored it for the time and continued on.
"Ah but there can be no doubt about it, with beauty to rival that of the great heroines of old it is no wonder so many people tell you so." By now he was close enough in the light that he could clearly be seen, and to be honest he was beginning to think he should ditch the mask, if someone was to recognise the young man they would easily do so with or without the mask. He closed the gap and as he listened to her words he took her right hand giving it a quick gentle kiss. Looking back up he gave her a sweet charming smile. "I am not hiding merely observing, all of them your grandfather's business partner's I presume?"
He knew the answer, as he had once met her grandfather when his father had been alive and well, the man seemed to love things about business from what he had seen. So it would only stand to reason that this event had been put on to gather more partners and to discuss ventures. Her Grandfather would not remember him though he was sure of that. Most aristocrats put these lavish events on only when they needed or wanted something, it was a great way of raising their status or getting business deals.
"No never, I must of misheard your usual sweet song for the dull buzz of the event." Nate was sure he was laying it on a little thick with the flirting, okay he might be faking it somewhat but he did not disagree with some of his words, she certainly had a certain allure to her, and she was certainly beautiful.
He shook himself out of these thoughts and while he made sure to listen to her he focused on one of the two men closest to them, talking about a cart of goods going along the road near the forest. Really tomorrow, hmm I alert the camp to that when I get back He now turned his attentions to the girl grinning back at her grin having heard her as well. "Oh I have other business, there is a man here I'm looking for." That was slightly true though it was more he wanted to overhear him, though talking to him might work. "Though" he smiled ever so sweetly and put her hands in his, "I was thinking of spiriting you away, into the woods, the fields or to the Horses, think of me as you dashing masked Hero come to save you from this affair," His tone serious, calm and sweet, his eyes lit and he gestured to the hall before continuing again "I'm here to take you on an adventure," He Stepped back giving her his most devilish smile and gestured to the stables knowing her love of horses. At her next words he held his smile. "Ah But the story is not yet over, a Hero does not take of his mask until the fair maiden is safe with her horses." He left that there before starting again, "though I could be persuaded perhaps," he glanced around once more, not wanting to not hear anything that could be a useful piece of information.

Adelaide rested her hands against the small wall with back pressed against it, she found herself out here most nights to clear her head and get rid of her grandmothers voice from her head. Adelaide’s brown curls rested against her shoulders blowing in the light wind. “Flattery will get you everywhere you know.” Adelaide smirked and looked at him as he closed the gap between them; she smiled at him her eyes watching his movements carefully. Adelaide loved parties but the people involved did leave something to be desired. “Unfortunately there all old and the entire evening is a bore, all they talk of is business.”
Adelaide was tired off all the business talk, she wanted to just have fun but business was always something which her grandfather made everything about and it bored her to death. She liked conversation as much as the next person but when that conversation was all about business she tended to switch off or pretend that she was listening because otherwise, she would most likely fall asleep at the conversation.
As he spoke again Adelaide raised an eyebrow and looked at him, her eyes flicking over him, resting on his face as they finished looking him over somewhat critically. She couldn’t help herself, she was critical of everything that she did or heard it was just the way that Adelaide had been brought up the young woman had always had the best and gotten exactly what she wanted, she knew she was spoilt.
Adelaide looked at him, “yet you come without an invite do you not?” she smiled at him moving away from the wall and crossed her legs slightly at the ankles as she stood. She smiled as he took her hands in his. “My Dashing Hero, well how can I think of you as dashing if I can only see part of your face?” she grinned her eyes lighting up at the thought of disappearing for a while. “Then I suggest we get going or I guess I shall never see your face.” She laughed and looked at him stepping back to rest against the wall. “They stay for hours and talk they talk for hours.”
