She is also incredibly cool to those people she has no respect for. Many people come to the conclusion that Adrienne has no heart. Which is untrue, of course Adrienne has a heart. She just prefer to hide her feelings away. Adrienne enjoys being alone. She revels in her own company, though there are a select few that she will converse with and enjoy it, mainly her brother and the young woman she saved. Adrienne has no love of the aristocrats. She hates them purely because of the many 'decent' aristocratic men who have used her. She generally dislikes and disrespects men, especially the ones who leer and ogle her. Adrienne likes to meet respected intelligent females. She likes to know that woman can make something of themselves. Adrienne sees pain as a sign of weakness, one she likes to think she has overcome. While she is cruel and cold, often being nicknamed “the ice woman”, Adrienne is a very loyal friend to those she feels deserves her friendship and underneath the cold exterior is a very warm but faint personality. For all the teaching her mother did has been all but stomped out by the cruelty of life. Adrienne likes to think of herself as a survivor, she has survived her family, being alone and being out on the streets. Adrienne's secret is that she likes to sing herself lullaby’s like her mother once did, it sometimes helps her to sleep. A lot of the time, sleep alludes Adrienne, and she is often seen pacing around her apartment. Despite not being very nervous, when she does get nervous, she is the type who paces and crosses her arms. Adrienne hates romance and romantics. She hates the idea of romance because it did not help her mother and has not helped her yet. She can not find herself believing in something that seems to simply hurt those who chase it. She is not a fan of music, or flowers; especially roses for their connotations of love. Adrienne would love to study and go to university, but as a woman she can not. She holds intelligence in high esteem. Adrienne believes in the revolution. She believes in their ideals, and would gladly help. APPEARANCE: Adrienne has what many people have described as haughty looks. With a strong nose, and thin face, and sharp cheekbones she has the makings of a lady. Her eyes are a piercing blue, and are what people have refereed to as almond shaped. She has clear and pale skin, that has a tint of colour to it. Her dark brown curls are often piled atop her head, in a messy fashion that seems to work on her. Adrienne is often seen with bruises on her skin. From the men who get too overzealous or fights with drunks, either way she does not express her pain. Because she does not often get much sleep, she often has dark bruises under her eyes. Adrienne has a tall and thin body, with bones that seem to almost protrude from her skin. Adrienne has ghost like curves, since they ghost over her body, barely there. She will often be seen wearing off the shoulder dresses, which has been tailored for her, from the money she brings in from being a courtesan. Adrienne often has an necklace on, or when she's escorting an client she will be dressed in fancy head gear and brilliant jewels. GOALS: Adrienne strives to become wealthy; she wants to be like her mother so maybe being a singer in a little bar. HISTORY: Adrienne's mother was a bar singer, she was a small time singer in Paris with a beautiful singing voice, she went by the name Lucille Paradis, when really she was called Catherine Francœur, which her mother once explained to her meant honest heart. Catherine married Monsieur Chevalier when her mother pleaded with her, leaving her one true love Raoul behind. Her grandmother had gotten the family into trouble and Monsieur Chevalier was able to get them out of this hole, so while she did not love him, Catherine was grateful for him. Being married to an wealthy business man didn't stop Catherine going out as 'Lucille' she found that people loved when she sung. She and Chevalier did not get on. Not very well, they argued and fought and most of the time Chevalier would just assert his dominance over Catherine in every single way he could. Though when she became pregnant with Adrienne (aged only 17), she stopped and was content instead to sing little baby Adrienne to sleep. Monsieur Chevalier, only wanting Catherine for her voice and looks, was not the best man in the world, he was cruel to Catherine and indifferent to Adrienne. Adrienne was a trouble to Chevalier, as it meant he had to share his wife, but he would not push Catherine who was already deeply in love with her little baby. Catherine's mother and father by now had been pushed out of Catherine's life and barely saw her any more, and they never saw their granddaughter – not until she was 10. With a father like Adrienne it was a wonder that Adrienne still had a heart when she grew to be a young woman, but it was all to do with her mother, who had taught her to be kind and caring above anything else. When Adrienne was around 5 years old, she can briefly remember her mother running off for a month. It was the worst month of Adrienne's life till her 16th birthday. She was left to her own devices with an rather cruel nanny to look after her. When her mother returned she apologized and told Adrienne a fairytale about a young woman who had been married to someone she didn't love and when she could, she would slip off to find her true love in a bid to be with him. Of course at 5, Adrienne did not realise that Catherine was talking about herself. A few months later and it was evident that Catherine was pregnant again. Adrienne's younger sibling was a baby boy, born a month or so after Adrienne's 6th birthday. The two did not get on. Firstly her younger sibling was a young boy, and Adrienne did not understand males, nor did she want to, and her father monopolized most of the time with his son, which made Adrienne jealous for he had been so indifferent to her. Adrienne was 10 when her father first started gambling. For the first couple of years he was good at it and he made a fair fortune through gambling, but slowly he stopped winning and started to loose. By the time Adrienne was 16, and her brother 14, he had lost the entire family fortune, and in a mad bid to win it back had gambled off Adrienne to an local criminal leader. The night before she was meant to be married to him, Catherine talked to her daughter. Told her the story of Raoul, and urged her to go. So Adrienne ran, and took as much as she could with her. She started off okay, selling off her dresses and jewels when she ran out of money, but she did not have many dresses left and was beginning to run out of money when one of the street walkers approached her and started mumbling to her about all the money she could make. Adrienne started out doing it, and for the first few times she was sick with herself, but eventually she hardened her heart to the pain. When an rather seedy – but rich – 'business man' approached her, he realised that she could be worth a lot of money, for with her rather haughty features she could fit into the high class society, so he turned her into a 'courtesan' and an 'escort'. By the time she was 20, she had been living as a courtesan for 4 years, and had not heard any news of her family. So when the news of her mothers death reached her, she was shocked. Apparently Chevalier had found out about Raoul and in a fit of rage had murdered Catherine. He was on the run and had not been caught. It was then that Adrienne decided to visit Raoul. She could see what her mother had seen in him. While he was ageing, his looks stayed with him. Adrienne picked up an relationship with him, and decided not to tell him about who her mother was. The relationship failed when he found out and Adrienne was thrown out. So Adrienne went back to being a courtesan since as a courtesan she could have mostt anything she wanted, if she budgeted, which Adrienne did. Her younger brother came looking for her when he was 20 and she 22, he was shocked to find her with a... client, and threatened the man, believing that her client was trying to take advantage of Adrienne. She would never forget the look of disappointment when he realised what she was. He told her that their father wanted Adrienne to go back, and for them to be a proper family again – he told her that Chevalier Sr had earned back all of the money he'd lost and was now a reputable tradesman. Adrienne refused, but promised to write to her brother, who despite their differences loved her. In the same year, Adrienne found a girl being attacked by a man, who had the intention to rape the other woman. Adrienne saved her and called for help, then took the younger woman back to her little flat. She tended to her wounds and the two became friends. Adrienne didn't introduce the younger woman into street walking, not wanting her to be ruined. ----- ALIAS: Abi AGE: 17 GENDER: Female OTHER CHARACTERS: Niamh Crowley HOW DID YOU FIND US: Advert ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: Niamh's eyelids fluttered as she turned her head. She flicked a strand of hair from her face and then placed a delicate hand beside her lap. She stared at her hand. Upon her ring finger was the glint of gold she was so used to. She turned to stare at her left hand, bare like it had been for years. Sighing, she smiled as she stood. Niamh felt most at home in the garden. She loved nature. She ran her hand over the stem of a blooming flower. She almost felt sad when she snapped the stem of the lilac, and tucked it into her dress. She held her hands in front of her bodice, and rested them against the soft material. She walked around the gardens for a while, content in her own company in that moment, it wasn't often she was content to be alone. Soon enough Niamh was fed up of her own thoughts and she found a place to perch down again. She played with the skirt of her dress. Maybe she should go and see Cillian. He would be happy to talk with her and maybe she could persuade him to give her another fencing lesson. She smiled at the thought. She truly enjoyed fencing. It was fun and gave her a thrill when she was able to beat Cillian. Niamh almost chuckled aloud, she quickly lifted a pale hand to lips painted a deep red. The colour of her cheeks darkened into a deep red that almost matched her lips. Seeing a woman standing alone. Niamh decided to chance it, and stood for the second time, moving in the direction of the other. She knelt down when she was close to look at a bush of flowers. Playing with the petals, she stayed there admiring the beauty of the flower before she stood, brushed the dirt off of her knees and looked around. The woman had gone and Niamh was stumped. She was getting really bored of being alone now, she had probably only been alone for half an hour tops, but that was enough for the young lady. Niamh pondered for a moment, and sighed. Dropping her hands to her waist, she circled them around her slight body. She rolled her head from left to right before twirling around on her toes. When she spotted a second person alone – who looked somewhat approachable – she made note of the flower and walked over. “excusez-moi, mais savez-vous quoi est appelé cette fleur?” she asked pointing to the bush she had just been at, usually she was rather good with flower names but she couldn't recall this one. *Excuse me, but do you know what this flower is called? And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill |
