Christian,
when you read this, I will be meeting someone in the Jardin du Luxembourg, a man that might know something about the whereabouts of Alain Le Corbeau, who was like a second father to me with the jugglers. I told you once he vanished, but he might have been involved in things too big for his head, and in searching for him, I might be in danger now. A woman who called herself Elise - high society ten miles upwind! - told me that Alain was taken by a man called The Falcon, and that he is a dangerous, lethal man. I didn't tell you of this meeting because I knew you would have told me not to go. But I must shed light on this affair, for better or worse.
This letter is all the precaution I could think of. If I don't return to the café by sundown, something went wrong. Maybe I shouldn't have written this at all, I might be overreacting, but... I don't want to vanish without a trace, without a word of goodbye, like Alain did. I want you to know what happened to me.
