BY THE FRENCH PRESS
General Lamarque, a Republican and Napoleonic war hero who won the heart of the French people through his work to better the living conditions of the lower classes, has passed away. Lamarque contracted cholera early in the year and after a short battle, he passed away in the early hours of this morning. His death will be a great loss to the citizens of France. A state funeral will be held in honour of Lamarque on the 5th of June at the Place Vendôme for those who wish to pay their respects. The Marquis de Lafayette is scheduled to speak at the funeral.
THE MAY QUEEN
It is the Gazette's pleasure to announce the official May Queen of the May Day festivities. All of Paris has been voting for the lucky Lady who will win such a title. The ballot box was brought into our offices in the early hours of the morning. The previous May Queen winner and several notable members of the French Court arrived to count up the hundreds of ballots that filled the box. The lucky Lady will not only have the May Queen title, but she will be invited to the annual Masked Ball, held by His Royal Highness King Henri Charles Ferdinand Marie Dieudonné d'Artois.
All was quiet when the final ballot had been counted, and it was confirmed that Eponine Thenardier had indeed won the title this year. Congratulations to Eponine Thenardier! We hope to get an interview with her after the ball
THE LAVIER EXPANSION
Sir Henri De Lavier is at it again, fellow citizens of France. After making several business ventures too many different aristocrats including the De Marge and The Somers families, the ruthless man is once more destroying the livelihoods of the poor of the French country side. De Lavier has been able to procure more funding and bonded with the Marge to build new factories further outside of Paris. He already has plans for the building which is upon where two farming families have lived for generations. The families are distressed at this happening, upset that their whole farm and livelihood are now in danger. Along with this, Sir Henri De Lavier is planning to increase the workload in his present factories, once again giving all weapons and ammunition to the government for their use. There have been a few outcries of dismay from who his workers who are said to already work very hard, those that have spoken out have “been dealt” as Sir Henri said. We do not know what has really happened to these people, but it can only be assumed that in some way they are now back with their families who they love and provide for.
HIGH SOCIETY
The British are coming! At the stupendous masquerade hosted by His Majesty King Henri was Englishman Richard David Moors and his wife, and “it” couple Sir Percival and Lady Marguerite Blakeney, favourites at the court of the English king, graced us with their presence. As ever, Lady Marguerite, the former Marguerite St-Just, was at the forefront of fashion! Mademoiselles and madames would do well to take note – wide-waisted and wide-shouldered dresses are coming into style! Sir Percy impressed at the card table with his ever-ready wit, and had a pretty lady at his side – while his wife was off gallivanting with old flame Paul Chauvelin! Should we concerned? Lady Marguerite might wish to be – also in attendance was Marquise Sylvie St-Cyr, daughter of the family who Marguerite helped put to death, if you remember! Even more scandalous, however, were the dances that His Majesty called for: a waltz and la volte! His Majesty seemed to have all the ladies swooning, including Lady Claudette Bridoire, who had several other gentlemen gathered around her, to no one's surprise!
THE GOSSIP COLUMN!
STUDENT MEET LADY
It can be confirmed that Marius Pontmercy and Cosette Fauchelevant, constantly seen eyeing each other across the streets of Paris, officially met on May 31st, at the May Day Parade. Due to privacy that her father insists upon, nothing more is disclosed on their relationship at this time.

THE ABC PAMPHLET!
Workers of Paris!
The time has come to resist injustice, to rise up and overthrow it. There is no need to tell you of the people's suffering; this is the everyday knowledge of every one of us. There is no need to tell you of the abuses performed by the king's allies—this also is common knowledge.
What remains is to unite! We are the backs on which Paris and all of France rides, the hands that turn the cranks. Without us, the nation collapses. It is time for us to claim our birthright as citizens of France and the world! No more shall we suffer under tyranny!
There are people today in this world, in France, in Paris itself who stand for the equality of all. For freedom for all the peoples of the world. The time nears that we shall rise to demand these rights, and our voices shall be heard!
Are you ready to stand beside us? We are on your side! We need you to triumph!
HOW LONG BEFORE...?
Citizens of France! These days we stand astonished to watch the decline of a once proud nation, a nation without fear, a nation with pride! A nation that would bear its colours as proudly as a field of roses in the height of summer, while keeping their hearts as pure as the fame of this flower. Alas, where is it now, that courage, that pride?!
Is it really only two years since Les Trois Glorieuses? Where have they gone, those students and workers that threw off the Bourbon dynasty for good in only three short days? Where is the red beating heart of every proud citizens of France, now it is once again threatened to fall back into the abyss it rose from?! It was our forefathers who brought around the first glorious change that laid the ground for what we have now. Would they have been content? Non, pas du tout! They are looking down on us all in sorrow while we fall prey to the slow poison that is false promises and concessions. But the same blood still runs in our bloods, the same courage, the same pride! Let us not be content with what we might have achieved, let us fight for more! Let us show those who wish to subdue us that we will NOT be fooled by their lies and promises. The French Soul has been sleeping for too long, lulled by the fame of former glory.
Arise, Mother France! Arise, her children! Take what is yours and stay alert!
