The rules must be followed if everyone’s to get along and the site to run smoothly. The Site Skin has been designed by Brooklyn from Caution, a huge thanks to her! All other codes belong to their respective owners and have been sourced from Proboards Support, Social Codes etc. The site content belongs to the staff and members of ‘Do You Hear the People Sing?’ please respect their content. ---- ONE || Making A Character ;; ;; You may have more than one character. However you must be able to keep up with posting if you have more than one. We recommend you don’t have more than three characters at a time. ;; Once your first character on the site has been accepted, you may not make a new character until you have posted at least five times in character. ;; Please do not double your accounts nor post as another character of yours in the wrong account. This just makes the site look neater as well as helps stop any confusion. ;; Don’t post in role play before you have been accepted. I know this is an obvious rule but it seems a lot of people do it nowadays. ;; We have an option to reserve canon characters on the site. If you wish to have sole consideration for a character you MUST reserve it. If the reservation runs out before you have been accepted you must wait 48 hours before re-reserving it. ;; If two people apply for the same character then we will look at the first application posted first. Then depending on if edits are required or not, the second. ;; In regards to your playby, I understand finding period drama photos is difficult. It is important however, not to use pictures that clearly show dress or styles that scream todays fashion. If all else fails just use faceshots etc of your playby. This is because as an 18th century roleplay site we are trying to build an atmosphere and setting. If the boards covered in pictures of jeans, ipods and hoodies, then its not helpful. ;; We also ask all faces you use to be over the age of thirteen. Read HERE for more details. TWO || Other Members ;; ;; No discrimination of any kind will be allowed. This includes Racism, Sexism or Nationalism. This rule is incredibly important and anyone found doing this will be banned faster than you can say ‘It’s Inspector Javert!’ ;; If you get into an argument with another member on this site do not bring it onto the forum. If you find you can’t solve it ask a member of staff for help. But do not start asking members to side with you. ;; We try to be fair on this site \nd take on board all ideas and possible plots, but if we feel a plot is too far fetched for the site, we will decline it. ;; Please do not ask to be staff, it becomes tiresome and puts the staff off completely. If the time comes and we need more staff we will go through a process to choose someone who’s right for the role. Show us you are dedicated to the site and you are more likely to be asked. THREE || The Signatures ;; ;; If you supply a siganture for the site it must have a human face in it, this means no to anime pictures and the likes. If you don’t have one or don’t know how to get one we have a graphics board where someone will try to help you out or go to Proboards Support and request one. ;; A Signature must be no larger than 500 in width and 250 in height. ;; If a signature is larger than the requested size a member of staff will ask you to resize it. Failure to resize it will result in a member of staff resizing it for you or removing the image all together. FOUR || Content ;; ;; This site is rated pg-13. ;; Please keep sexual content to a minimum due to Proboards TOS. No rude pictures or graphic posts please. You may look at adult themes, however graphic descriptions are not allowed. ;; The same goes for violence etc, nothing graphic, lets keep it all in good taste. ;; If anyone has an concerns or questions regarding this please contact a staff member. FIVE || Role Playing ;; ;; Our post count is 350 words min. We do ask that you try to match your role playing partners posts, but we understand sometimes that is difficult to do, but give it a try eh. We wont police you if you make the odd post just under 350 words, but if it is a regular thing we will pop you a message. ;; If we find you are unable to meet our post count on regular occasions we will give you a warning. If this warning is ignored we will help you find a no word count site that you may perhaps enjoy. ;; You must not in any way shape or form GOD MOD. This means -for those of you who do not know what god modding is- you must not control the thoughts, actions or emotions of the characters you are role-playing with. God modding is not tolerated on any role-play forums. ;; We will also not be accepting any Mary Sues or Gary Stu’s. For those of you who have no idea what I am on about in the fan fiction world they are referred to as ‘the perfect character’. For example a Mary Sue would be stunning she’d have no physical flaws and everyone would like her or want to be her friend. Moreover she’d probably get perfect grades all the time with no effort at all and all the boys would fancy her. Its pretty much the same for Gary Stu’s but you get the picture. Any variations of these will not be allowed here. No one is perfect. Everyone has flaws. More information regarding stus can be found here. ;; Marriages, Pregnancies are allowed in moderation we don’t want babies popping up everywhere or a marriage every other week but the odd one or two is good. ;; When you start a role play topic please put a tag in so members know if it is open or not. I.e. Javert/Valjean. ;; If a role play is tagged and your name isn’t included please do not join, however it is fine to pm the thread creator to ask if it’s okay to join. ;; Once a character is taken they are taken that means I do not want to see different versions of The Pimpernel or Cosette running about the place. Make your characters unique to you. ;; Please be active. This goes especially to the canon characters. I understand you might not be able to post every day but once a week or once a month is not enough! You must be able to post at least two or three times a week! ;; If ten days go by and you have not posted an application or you’ve been accepted but not posted at all it is likely your account will be removed. ;; If you are going to be away for more than three days, you MUST post in the abscence board, or risk having your account removed in an AC. ;; Character deaths are allowed but no major canons can be killed unless it is part of the story. Also once your character is dead that's it they can't come back. So you may want to think about it before you kill your character off. You can't kill another person's character off unless you have worked it out with them and been given permission by an admin/mod. ;; Any massive plots like deaths, marriages, au canon pairings must be approved by a member of staff. This isn’t so we can squash all your fun plots, but we need to know to ensure plots are appropriate to the site and incase plot information threads need to be updated. ;; Please if there are more than 3 people in a thread have a posting rota so people don’t get left behind. ;; We also ask you write roleplay posts in third person, most people do this in the roleplay world, but just to clarify. Third person please. SIX || The Chat Box ;; ;; Main rule is please please please do not advertise in it. Its just annoying and unfair. We have a board for that. ;; Please be polite and friendly to guests. ;; If something happens in the chatbox you are not happy about or unsure about, please note the time and report it to a member of staff to deal with. ;; If an ‘unfriendly’ guest enters the cbox, please ignore them and report them to a member of staff. SEVEN || Tag Box ;; ;; The Tag Box is there to promote your plot pages and posts. Use the link box for the link then explain what you are tagging next to it. ;; Please do not post more than three tags in a row, per character. For Example if you are playing Marius and Harry you may post: Marius, Marius, Marius, Harry. But you may not tag more than three per character. ;; Please only promote the same post or thread etc once a day. ;; You may use the tag box to post character pictures and tags, but it is not to be abused and the tag box isn’t a In Character Chat. EIGHT || ACCOUNTS ;; ;; Admins reserve the right to delete accounts if after a week the person using the account hasn’t made any attempt to make a character or/and doesn’t make an accepted character with no attempt to even start one. ;; If you are going away and haven’t made a character you must inform us so we do not delete your account.
