clémence toussaint ,
twenty five | french citizen | straight | servant&barmaid Meet Clémence Toussaint...or less formally known as Toussaint. By day, the servant to Monsieur Valjean and Mademoiselle Cosette and by night, a Barmaid at Madame Maxaine’s Tavern.
A dreamer. All her life, Clémence has dreamt of a different life, of a different world. She’s extremely intelligent for a woman that has never been formally educated, but most of her smarts come out in the way of imagination. She hungers after knowledge, searching for it in whatever form she can get it; whether it be reading or simply watching other people have a conversational exchange. Clém is very observant and understands most people by the way that they move and the things that they say - a talent that she picked up from being a servant for nine years of her life.
She’s sharp when it comes to poker and knows how to hold her own against the gentlemen that frequent the Tavern in which she works. Clémence has always enjoyed watching the members of the ABC come in and out of the tavern, learning about new people and places that she has yet to see, and reading whenever she gets a free moment. Clém wants to be a part of the change that this country will one day see and she wants to become something more than the hired help...
She’s currently looking for:
’ friends
’ possible lover
’ enemies/rivals
’ acquaintances
Throw your characters at meeeeee and hopefully we can work out something awesome.

Something more than a servant? how about the future Mrs Desjardins? ;D
Nah, he's too old and too ugly looking for someone like Clemence not to mention all of the odd stares etc.
Basically Gustave is your average behemoth of a police Sargent, standing somewhere between 6'3 and 6'5 and being made of muscle, he's a very strong, powerful man. But also one with feelings, sometimes very deep and rather upsetting feelings about himself and the world that he helped build with his huge hands.
I don't know how Clemence could fit into that world, besides some light comfort for an old military veteran with too much time to drink and not enough money to pay for it. But I'm willing to go for anything between these two.
Rest assured, he'll certainly try on the ol' Desjardins charm ;D

Old? Ugly looking? *gasp* Anyway, Valjean takes care of Toussaint during the day and she takes care of him and Cosette. He is a kind and generous employer, though he does not approve of Toussaint's night work, and would gladly pay her more to keep her out of the tavern! Even though they don't ask each other too many questions, he is fond of her, since she has been with them for a while. ^let me know if that all sounds right to you

gustave and clémence ,YAY my first plotter. HAHA I try to not plot marriages, but don’t think that I’m throwing that idea out of the window quite yet ;] I think that Clém would be very interested in Mr. Desjardins, despite the fact that he’s older...I read his application and he’s seen the world, he’s seen war; I’m assuming that he’s got more stories then he could ever possibly tell in one life time. She’ll want to know anything and everything about him. Fascination if nothing else. I think that they could have an interesting dynamic because instead of writing him off as some old coot, she’d be hanging on to every word that he said. Free drinks for the sweet old man that tells her stories of adventure! *loves on Russell Crowe*
valjean and clémence ,Clém loves Monsieur Valjean, that much is for certain! He has always been more than kind and generous to her, despite the fact that she is but a servant to him. She knows that he’s aware of what she does at night, but she would never admit to him that she works in the tavern, she doesn’t want him to think lowly of her. I feel like they would be confidants of sorts; she’s been with them for quite some time and has always been a listening ear for him. It’s probably most convenient as well, for Valjean, to have another woman around the dwelling so that he can speak with her about Cosette.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm not sure how much of a confidante Valjean would have her be - he wouldn't tell her about his past, I think, but everything else would probably be fair game. Mostly they talk about Cosette, yes; more than anything else, Toussaint is Cosette's lady's maid. And there are some things that Cosette might discuss with Toussaint that she wouldn't tell her father. Valjean wants to know everything (within reason) so Toussaint probably reports back to him.
Marius, though, might have to be kept between just the ladies ;) Assuming that Cosette and Clém talk about it. Just so the whole finding-the-letter thing can be dramatic. *nod nod*

I Would love for either Maxi or Nate to Meet Clem it should be interesting at the moment though I need more threads for Nate but I don't mind either way :)
Before I get anywhere with Nate plotting would Clem when she works at the Tavern would she hear a lot of rumours do you think ? and would she have any sympathies to The Sacred Heart?
With Maxi I can see them meeting near the Tavern or near where Valjean lives, however I don't see maxi being 15 going in a Tavern though then again it was a little different for 15 year old's back then. Maybe she sees him when he's his normals self helping out the poor ? might intrigue her or when he's on adventure as a street kid and we go from either one of those two. If he knows she hungers for knowledge he might end up giving her a few books to read and stuff. Or Maybe he goes to her when he has a chapter from his writing of books and stuff shes like the one he goes to to get an opinion on it ?
I had a small idea with Nate and Clem how much would she be interested in Historical Artefacts ?

And where might a 'minor government functionary' such as Chauvelin go to unwind after a long day at work pushing papers? In a tavern he can relax with good company and good ale -- especially if it's served to him by a beautiful woman. That he can also surveil budding revolutionaries is just icing on the cake. Chauvelin is an older man, about average height for the times, not nearly as physically impressive as Gus. However, observant Clemence would probably notice that he's slightly portly (indicating he has enough money to eat well), his clothes -- while not not flashy -- are of very good quality, his nails are clean, and he's well spoken. He wears a nice ring, but no wedding ring. She'd also probably notice that, like her, he watches. He joins in conversations, but listens a lot more than he talks. He's friendly and polite and buys his share of rounds, but actually drinks only sparingly. He might intrigue her, either as a potential source of security/income or just because she's a curious kitty.
