She revels in her own company, though there are a select few that she will converse with and enjoy it, mainly her brother and the young woman she saved. Adrienne has no love of the aristocrats. She hates them purely because of the many 'decent' aristocratic men who have used her. She generally dislikes and disrespects men, especially the ones who leer and ogle her. Adrienne likes to meet respected intelligent females. She likes to know that woman can make something of themselves. Adrienne sees pain as a sign of weakness, one she likes to think she has overcome. While she is cruel and cold, often being nicknamed “the ice woman”, Adrienne is a very loyal friend to those she feels deserves her friendship and underneath the cold exterior is a very warm but faint personality. For all the teaching her mother did has been all but stomped out by the cruelty of life. Adrienne likes to think of herself as a survivor, she has survived her family, being alone and being out on the streets. Adrienne's secret is that she likes to sing herself lullaby’s like her mother once did, it sometimes helps her to sleep. ADRIENNE'S RELATIONSHIPS: friends: adrienne is not a friendly person. while she has a few friends, they are just that - few - she is not the kind of person to make friends willingly but when she is friends with someone, she will stay loyal. lover: adrienne is not a lover. while she will willingly 'make love' to someone, it is just a job to her. she does not believe in love. enemies: adrienne probably has a few people who dislike her. family: the only family member Adrienne talks with is her young (half) brother. Nate and Adrienne

Happy Men talk, and I have heard that loose lips sink ships right? Seeing as Adrienne holds no l love the aristocracy how about Nate happens to pay her to do exactly what she already does with other men but get them to talk get information, very important information maybe ? It is he Kinder option she can get back at those Aristos that look down upon her they think she is using her but infact she is using them. So what do you think ?

I don't really see them ever meeting and if they did im not sure if they could get along, maybe she helps him out of a spot of bother when hes a street kid or he tries to help her out give her money and food as his normal self and she keeps refusing every time he tries or something ?

Would Rienne be interested in becoming a 'kept woman?' I can see Chauvelin having a paid mistress (had imagined some faceless, nameless NPC, but an actual character is better ;>), and Rienne is just the sort of smart, clear-eyed businesswoman he would choose.

Basically, he would offer a nice place of her own choosing in a good part of town along with a stipend plenty generous for her to live quite well (and buy clothing, jewelry, servants, books, etc.) She would own the place outright, keeping it when they eventually parted ways, though of course the stipend would stop at that point. In return she would have to be available to him 2-3 times a week and to grace his arm at the occasional formal event (additional funds for clothing/jewelry provided at such times). It would also be an exclusive arrangement, as he's a very careful man and there's a reason syphilis is known as 'the French disease.' At a stocky 60, he's not exactly a handsome young hunk, but he's not given to strange fetishes or knocking women around either. Nor is he looking for romance, just a straight-up business deal.

If Rienne would be up for it, please let me know. 

I could see Rienne being a 'kept woman' if the deal were right for her. She's enjoying the freedom she has at the moment. I think Rienne would find that deal worth taking. Rienne could be exclusively his - why do I keep thinking that Rienne is becoming more and more like Satine from Moulin Rouge anyway. She would just treat it as if her were a 'regular customer'.

Good, if he's not looking for romance then he won't be disappointed since Adrienne doesn't believe in love. She doesn't like the ideas of romance. So business is good for her I think that Rienne while she probably won't like him, she'd look the 'perfect' woman for him at his balls and what not.

She'd be totally up for it though XD

Excellent. The deal would afford Rienne a lot of freedom, since most of her time would be her own, and she wouldn't have to worry about cash flow or if her next john might turn out to be some psycho pervert (or infected with an STD, a very real concern in the days before antibiotics).

As far as giving away government secrets, that's not something he'd talk about to a courtesan, even his special one. Still, if he's called out of bed with her on some emergency, she might overhear part of whatever it was about. And she might well figure out pretty quickly that he's not the unremarkable mid-level government clerk he pretends to be. What she does with that information is up to her, though.

EDIT: Another possibility that occurs to me is him taking her to the occasional event gives her entre to parties where powerful people get drunk, assume they're among friends, and yak accordingly. Not pillow talk, but better in some ways, since it's not limited to a small group of people, and it gives her some measure of deniability if Rienne's not the only one who could've spilled the beans.

Suffice to say all that above about being some owned woman by anyone other than Mr Thenardier does not bode well for Chauvelin or Adrienne. Monsieur Thenardier will be going out of his way to use his unique, witty brand of charming violence to extract money from one or the pair of them. I can't imagine Chauvelin will be too happy to find out his mistress is being bullied by a gangster and will probably try and put a stop to it Whatever goes.
