Since it is summer and some of us are on holiday - and hopefully the rest of us get some time off of work - I thought I'd see what other members like to do in their free time besides roleplaying! Do you have a favorite book or movie? Are you in a choir or on a sports team? Do you like to draw or dance? Have you ever gone on a crazy adventure?! This could be a fun way to get to know each other a little better outside the cbox, even though a lot of us have already been here a while and are pretty familiar

I'm one of those crazy people known as a geocacher (or cacher, for short). We go around finding hidden treasures (altoids tins stuck on transformers, tupperware under lampskirts, camoed pill bottles in bushes, ammo cans beneath piles of rock, all manner of things). I've broken nails, sprained limbs, shed blood, and gotten into more poison oak than I care to think about. Why? Because it's fun! Because I discover places and learn things and see views that I never would have known about otherwise. I've been doing it for a bit over four years now and have found almost 4,500 caches. They're all over the place, and most people have no idea. You probably go right by one every day and don't even realize. If you're curious to find out, go to www.geocaching.com and put in your city or zip code. (I also have a ton of favorite books and movies, but I'll shut up for now ;>)

That sounds so fun!! I've always wanted to do it. What's the coolest thing you've found? And what do you hide in return? (And of course we want to hear your favorite books and movies too!)

Oh, heck yeah. There's even a Geocaching Association of Great Britain. Figure skating is so neat! It and ice dancing are about the only Olympic sports that I watch. I've never even tried to ice skate. I'm sure I'd spend a lot of time on my behind. We need to get some book and movie recommendations going (maybe with a rule of only positive recommendations, thereby to avoid the flames when somebody's favorite gets dissed?)

I tried geocaching once! It was tremendously fun, I'd love to do it again.
Um... I've dabbled in a lot of things, but I guess I'm kind of between serious hobbies at the moment. Traditionally it was dog training, but I don't have a dog right now. So I still just dabble in a lot of things!

Wow, that all sounds awesome! Dog training is great... there are a lot of dogs out there who could use that!

Hm.. I spend most of my time writing... either RPs or fiction of some sort. I do a lot of fanfic and a lot of historical fiction and AU history. I love "What would have happened if..." types of books.
And I like reading of course - more historical fiction and fantasy mostly.
I also do graphics. I started doing graphics when I was in about 7th grade ish. We had a computer class rotation in school where we had to use Photoshop 7 to create an edited image. And I edited my face onto a picture of Jane Seymour by her Hollywood Walk of Fame star and put my name on the star. And ever since then I was kind of hooked. Later on, I got my own copy of 7 and later got CS2 and still use that. And I make all kinds of pretties with it. Usually character sigs for different roleplays and/or custom art for dog sim games. I tried to get into tablet drawing, but the tablet I bought conflicts with my OS and so it works but not well. I'm intending to install it on a netbook someday if /when I ever got another (I had one that I got for Christmas but it's got some bugs that I didn't have the time or patience or knowledge to work out. So I sold it to a friend who didn't mind the bugs XD)
I'm very interested in studying different religions - especially Christianity since I am a Christian. But I also like to study Judaism and Islam at times. I don't think I'd ever convert or anything but I think it's cool to know about.
And I'm obsessed with royals. Just ask Ash how much. Especially Imperial Russia. Ironically enough, Marie Antoinette was one of the royals I was less interested in than some of the others... and yet here I am.. But usually it's the Tudors, QE II and her family, and the Romanovs. Sometimes others.
I'm also hoping to get into showing dogs in the nearish future. Whenever I get my next dog, it's going to be a Welsh Springer Spaniel, and I'm intending to train and show.
I'm also an ML (municipal liaison) for Nanowrimo. Which just means I organize group events for a town near me and get people together in real life who are doing it. This'll be my 3rd year as in ML and my 9th year participating come November.
So that's mostly what I do. I also spend an unhealthy amount of time online and chilling in front of the t.v. Sigh. I'm a little lazy. I do like to walk though.
