“So ye dun believe in absolute truth then?” Courfeyrac asked, sitting up a little in interest. No one would ever call him pure – by no means. But that didn't mean he didn't have his own moral compass. He did think that some things were absolutely wrong, that everyone would agree on that. “Ah do agree with ye that people are imperfect...” He smirked a little, turning his head to the side. “Though Ah s'pose Ah'd say ye're pretty close.” Oh yes, he never missed the chance to be romantic.
Chuckling in amusement at her words that she sounded like a philosopher, he had to nod in agreement. “Tha's wha' good philosophers do, think of their own ideas, they dun just read what other people said.” Granted, that was what he did, some of the time, but he also had plenty of his own ideas. He got things from other books and then applied them to the situation that he was in, when possible. And if it wasn't possible... Well, he'd try his best.
“Then wreakin' havoc in France is enuf for me,” Courfeyrac replied with a smile. He would change the world by changing France. That was what he wanted to do. He wanted everyone in the world to be free, to have the right to speak and determine their own government, but he also knew that he didn't have that kind of influence. Not yet. Soon, everyone in France and everyone in the world, if things went well, would have the same power as any other man or woman. “An' then mebbe once the world is free... we can explore it together.”
These were conditional offers, of course. He would have to survive all of this. He would have to actually get a republic in France, and actually in England, and everywhere. There would be places that might not accept it easily. Perhaps not even France. Would he want to live if things did not work out? Would he live anyway even if things did work? He didn't know, and perhaps it was useless to wonder just now.
As she rested her forehead against his, he let his breathing slow a little, his dark eyes meeting hers. “Ah dun 'ave anywhere t' be as far as Ah know,” he answered with a slight smirk. “An' Ah know these kinds of things.” 'course, if someone were to show up and tell him that he was needed, then he would drop everything at a moment's notice to go help. “Two hours, Ah can probably spare.” He smiled and kissed her softly. “Jes' fer ye.”
