Marius is really shy as you can see, but he needs friends.

Around two years ago he ran away from home because of an argument with his grandfather--whom he doesn't like talking about. This has required him to be somewhat self-sufficient. He's very hardworking and has a job as a translator, and still manages to balance law classes, studying for the bar examination, and attending ABC meetings--when he can.

Marius considers leaving his grandfather’s house to be the best decision he has ever made. It instilled in him a new sense of pride in himself and it allowed him to see how the other side lives. He was completely unaware of the king’s misdeeds toward the people of France until he started living by himself in Paris. He wants to do anything and everything he can to relieve people’s suffering, and if that means going to war against the monarchy itself, so be it.

It should also be noted that Marius is a diehard Bonapartist thanks to his father, Georges Pontmercy, who was a Colonel in the Grande Armée de la République. He thinks the world of him and the fallen emperor, and wants to restore Napoleon’s Republic after toppling the monarchy. He dreams of France being a great empire again under another great leader—not a king, but an emperor. These beliefs often leave him at odds with his Republican friends.

He can make fairly impressive speeches against the king—nothing as sweeping or grand as those of Enjolras, but notable nonetheless—because of his ability and sometimes weakness of getting carried away by his emotions. He is passionate and often reckless, and despite being a clever scholar, his cleverness does not always extend to his daily life because he tends to let his feelings reign over his thoughts.

Friends: Marius is far from a social butterfly, and is usually very quiet unless the topic of conversation has to do with law or history—in particular, if the subject is Napoleon. Nevertheless he is friendly or at least tries to be, and usually has an upbeat manner. He is a good friend to those who have learned to put up with his social ineptitude.

Enemies: He doesn’t try to make enemies but everyone has enemies. He thinks his grandfather is his greatest enemy, along with monarchists like him.

Lovers: Love was never something he really thought about before meeting Cosette. Now his heart beats solely for her.

COURFEYRAC & MARIUS
Courfeyrac and Marius are basically BFFLs, for however long they live because they are dumb and think they have to save boys running in front of guns or threaten to blow up barricades. They've slept together and everything so they're obviously pretty close. Ok in all seriousness he was the one to bring Marius in to the Amis' fold initially, and sometimes he thinks Marius is silly and teases him, but he's also very fond of him. He likes having him around, and will do everything to protect him. He also taught him German so he could get a job, so that's pretty cool. That's really all I got but I love these two yup

VALJEAN & MARIUS
Welp this is awkward because Valjean doesn't want Marius to take his baby girl away... but he also doesn't want him to die. So he's probably going to end up saving his sorry butt and dragging him through poop... Assuming things end up going that way. I'm interested in playing out the dynamic between these two as the barricade plots get goin', whoop whoop!

[MYLÈNE LACOQUINE]

Mylène&Marius:
Hehe, this could be interestin/funny. Mylène's been knowing him for a while after all, and she's probably teased him for his bashful behaviour around women. Now, she knows what Eponine feels, and she witnessed his gushing about Cosette, so her dealings with him might have taken on a bit more sarcastic edge. She finds him probably funny, the way he talks about Cosette, and she's angry with him for not seeing what Eponine feels. Awkward... especially since she's not exactly the type to spill secrets.

Nicephore&Marius:
Hmm... if these two crossed paths, idrk what would happen Maybe Marius' grandfather knew General Lamarque in some way, so they might have met before Marius joined Les Amis?

Lucien&Marius:
Same goes for here apparently, and even more so. Marius is a baron, is he not? And Lucien's a comte, soon to be Marquis, and they're about the same age. I bet they crossed paths, and if Lucien saw what became of Marius, his derision would be endless!! Maybe rumours travel far, maybe the grandfather complained to Lucien's father about his wayward heir? Lucien#s ready to spill some poison

Marius&Courfeyrac
He's really grateful for him for letting him live with him. If he had a brother he would undoubtedly wish that he was just like Courf. I think in some respects he does see him as a big brother figure because he really does look after him, like with the teaching him German thing. They should bond more at the barricades.

Marius&Mylene
Marius is obviously quite oblivious, and I think he wouldn't even get her sarcasm most of the time XD I expect their relationship would be interesting/awkward since they have a mutual friend.

Marius&Nicephore
Maybe? They could have met at some function--Gillenormand hated Lemarque and really anyone who was in Napoleon's army though. Marius on the other hand would be glad to meet him since he's the resident Waterloo buff, and because of his father.

Marius&Lucien
That could be interesting! Marius obviously wouldn't like Lucien very much, and I think it could be fun if they interacted.

Gavroche looks up to Marius as he does most of the ABC gang. But there is something about Marius's pure heart and good intentions that Gav really likes. I'm not sure of any specific plots right now, but I would love to see them hanging out at some point

Marius would probably admire Gavroche's enthusiasm for their cause, but also try to look after him a little ( since he's his friend's brother ). They should! Maybe something at the Musain?
